Dodging interceptors? Battle 1, Mission 6

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!

I can't seem to get away from the hordes of Interceptors that attack all at once on Battle 1, Mission 6: Punch a hole in the imperial sensor net! no matter how much I turn, how fast I go or if I stay at 1/3rd for maximum turning, I just can't seem to dodge all the ties at once! What tactics are good for getting away from those stupid head-on battles?
